A2J Author
A2J Author® is a cloud-based software tool designed to enhance access to justice for self-represented litigants. It enables non-technical users from courts, clerk’s offices, legal services organizations, and law schools to rapidly build and implement user-friendly web-based document assembly projects. These projects consist of two main components: 1. A2J Guided Interviews: Intuitive interfaces that simplify complex legal information, allowing users to complete court documents ready for filing. 2. A2J Templates: Backend templates that support the document assembly process. Since its inception, A2J Author has facilitated over 8 million runs of A2J Guided Interviews, assisting self-represented litigants worldwide. The tool is available for free to legal aid organizations, government entities, courts, and other non-profits for non-commercial use. Additionally, A2J Author provides hosting solutions for A2J Guided Interviews and Templates. A2J Author is developed and maintained by the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI) and the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law.
