Established in 1995 as a joint initiative between the University of Technology Sydney and the University of New South Wales, AustLII provides free internet access to Australasian legal materials, including legislation, treaties, and decisions of courts and tribunals.
Features
AustLII offers a comprehensive database of over four million searchable documents, encompassing primary legal materials such as legislation and case law, as well as secondary materials like law reform and royal commission reports. The platform includes a user-friendly search engine, SINO, which allows users to perform free-text searches across all AustLII databases or specific databases. AustLII also provides hypertext links within case law databases, connecting references to other cases, Acts, and sections in Acts, facilitating easy navigation and context understanding.
