Illinois JusticeCorps

Illinois JusticeCorps is an innovative AmeriCorps program that enhances access to justice for self-represented litigants across Illinois. By placing trained volunteers in courthouses statewide, the program assists individuals without legal representation in navigating the civil justice system. Volunteers provide legal information, procedural guidance, and connect litigants with legal aid services and self-help resources. This initiative not only supports the public in understanding their legal rights and responsibilities but also offers volunteers valuable exposure to the court system, professional skill development, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Operating in 17 judicial circuits and serving 28 counties, Illinois JusticeCorps ensures that court users feel prepared and less overwhelmed, fostering a more accessible and equitable legal environment.
